Lenswood |
The first established was the 24 hectare Lenswood vineyard in 1994, which meanders over small hills and into valleys surrounding the Nepenthe winery.
Lenswood is undulating, at the higher altitude of the four vineyards, and carries a huge variety of natural vegetation. With under half of the property cleared, Lenswood constitutes a number of small vineyards separated by tracts of natural scrub which is heritage listed.

Our Lenswood property is also the site of our winery, the second to be approved in the Adelaide Hills. The winery has been purpose built to give Michael Fogarty and his team the ultimate flexibility, allowing them to make the multi award winning wines year after year. Small tank sizes allow the team to keep seperate fruit from different vineyards, and only blend the very best wines to make the final labels.
Varieties Planted at Lenswood include:
- Sauvignon Blanc
- Chardonnay
- Pinot Gris
- Riesling
- Cabernet Sauvignon
- Zinfandel
- Pinot Noir
- Semillon
Lenswood is the highest altitude vineyard (circa 500m). There is, of course, no Shiraz and only a tiny block of Cabernet. This is the highest and therefore coolest and wetest of our vineyards.
Row spacing: 2.1m
Canopy: Vertical Shoot Positioning (VSP) with spur pruning and cane pruning for Sauvignon Blanc
