Hungry Ground

The Hungry Ground is our single vineyard reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, produced only in exceptional years.

The vineyard is situated close to our winery at Lenswood, on a tiny patch of stony, steep, west-facing dirt at the highest point of the property. The name came about when our winemaker was discussing this particular patch of dirt with a local grower, who commented that it was "pretty hungry ground". The 2003 is our third The Hungry Ground, and it is rare, we only produced 4 barrels.
