Prestige Cuvée Chardonnay Pinot Noir
The Altitude Prestige Cuvée is a traditional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir blend, the same blend used for Champagne, and was created using a selection of vintages to ensure premium quality and consistent style. A fresh, fruit driven palate is complemented by a crisp, clean finish. A perfect aperitif to get any party started.
The Adelaide Hills is Australia’s most highly regarded Sauvignon Blanc region, due to its ancient soils and cool yet dry growing season. A period of consistently cool conditions delivered a well-balanced, complex wine unique in characters of crisp acidity, apples and passionfruit. Pairs perfectly with a variety of seafood dishes.
A great example of Adelaide Hills Chardonnay, with minimalist winemaking techniques allowing the varietal and regional qualities to reflect in the wine. It is a fresh and elegant wine with pure fruit flavours of nectarine enhanced by crisp citrus acidity and a long, dry finish. A small proportion of the wine is fermented in oak barrels to add complexity and texture to the wine. Pairs perfectly with a variety of fish dishes.
Pinot Gris is perfectly suited to the Adelaide Hills, where the altitude of the vineyards moderates the climate, giving us cool conditions during the growing a season. A complex palate of stone fruit characters, creamy and well balanced by a crisp, clean finish.
Pinot Noir is known to be a fickle and difficult grape, in both growing and winemaking. However the variety is well-suited to the cool slopes and ancient soils of the Adelaide Hills. Summer fruit flavours extend onto the palate complemented by subtle spice notes from the oak. This mid-weight wine is fresh and bright with a firm structure and long, savoury finish. Most suited to sheep’s milk cheese or duck.
Tempranillo was virtually unheard of in the Adelaide Hills before Nepenthe planted Tempranillo vines at Charleston in 1998. The variety is remarkably well-suited to the region as it loves altitude and thrives in the cool climate conditions. This wine delivers intense berry fruit flavours combined with a subtle spice finish. Pairs well with Spanish tapas, barbequed meat and pizza.
Cool climate Shiraz has been rapidly growing in reputation over the past few years. At Nepenthe we saw the potential for Shiraz in the Adelaide Hills when vines were planted at our Hahndorf vineyard in 1999. It’s an ideal site for Shiraz with high altitude, low vigour soils and northerly aspect. A traditional cool climate Shiraz with a mid-weight, elegant palate highlights raspberry and blackcurrant flavours with subtle sweet vanilla oak notes. Enjoy with light red meat dishes such as beef stir fry.
